Abstract

A theoretical outline of the thesis “Life narratives and decolonial thought:” is illustrated in the construction of the integrality of the Deaf Being in the Tocantina Amazon”. In this article, we sought to present the coloniality, of the normative and monolingual body, of Deaf Being as a systemic and hierarchical pattern. The study was characterized by a bibliographical research based on decolonial studies. It is concluded that there are two colonialities present in the process of oppression of deaf subjects, they are: the coloniality of the normative body and monolingual coloniality. Both tend to mask the issue of the linguistic, identity and cultural difference of the deaf subject, because by using normative discourse, it medicalizes deafness and frames the difference in the body and the form of communication as primitive and inferior: colonialities shape bodies based on the deaf subject's incomplete hearing and inefficient speech.
