Abstract

The genus Senna Mill. has enantiostylous pollen flowers, and in this floral polymorphism there is a morphological variation in which two floral forms are distinguished in terms of the deflection of the stylus in relation to the floral axis. In general, individuals with two morphs (monomorphic) are expected to have isoplectic populations, i.e. right and left floral morphs in a 1:1 ratio. In this context, this work aims to verify the dynamics of flower morph production in Senna aversiflora (Herb.) H.S. Irwin & amp; Barneby, by counting the number of flowers produced daily per individual and in the population studied, as well as classifying the flowers into right, left and reciprocal functional categories (FD, FE, REC). We used the species S. aversiflora, which has monomorphic enantiostylism, as a model. We counted the number of floral morphs produced by each individual observed, to check whether the population was in equilibrium, and carried out the functional classification of these individuals. Our results show that the individuals observed produced similar numbers of flowers from the left morph (ME) and the right morph (MD). Expressing the occurrence of isopleths in the population studied, but adopting different dynamics of flower morph production. We consider that the individuals found in this sample are in equilibrium, as well as presenting a functionally reciprocal population.
